Background:

A small business and a medical practice have similar operational elements: Customers/patients, service/healing, invoicing/billing, customer service/patient satisfaction, employees, relationships, product or service lifecycle/new or different technologies and procedures, accounts receivable, accounts payable, marketing, growing, responding, and so on.

Both physicians and small business owners are often excellent in providing the skilled service for which they were trained; however management of the business or practice requires a different skill set, involves performing activities which are not enjoyable or satisfying, and frankly, management can be perceived as boring and is often seen as a necessary evil.
